Cambridge Pathway

Cambridge Primary

Cambridge Lower Secondary

12 - 14 Years Old

Cambridge Upper Secondary

14 - 16 Years Old

Cambridge Advanced

16 to 19 Years Old

The four stages lead seamlessly from primary to secondary and pre-university years. Each stage – Cambridge PrimaryCambridge Lower Secondary,  Cambridge Upper Secondary and Cambridge Advanced – builds on the learners’ development from the previous one. Each syllabus adopts a ‘spiral’ approach, building on previous learning to help advance students’ study.

Cambridge Primary offers a curriculum framework to schools in order to develop English, Mathematics and Science skills, knowledge and understanding in young learners. It provides guidance for curriculum development and classroom teaching, and enables teachers to assess children’s learning.

It lays the foundation for secondary education providing high quality teaching and assessment resources appropriate for teaching in international schools.

Cambridge Lower Secondary incorporates internationally benchmarked ‘Checkpoint’ tests. The curriculum gives teachers the ability to use the material to suit their own situation and at the same time, use the progression tests to enhance their teaching and reporting. It also provides excellent preparation for learners embarking on Cambridge Upper Secondary O-Level courses.

Cambridge Upper Secondary is a globally recognized Cambridge O-Level qualification that provides excellent preparation for the Cambridge Advanced Stage including Cambridge International AS and A-Levels. It incorporates the best in international education for learners at this level.

Royal Institute offers an array of subject combinations at the Cambridge Advanced Stage allowing learners to experience a unique range of subjects such as Law, English Language, Global Perspectives and Research, Psychology, etc.

Cambridge develops learner knowledge, understanding and skills in:

  • comprehensive subject content
  • independent thinking
  • applying knowledge and understanding in new as well as familiar situations
  • handling and evaluating different types of information/sources
  • logical thinking and presenting ordered and coherent arguments
  • making judgements, recommendations and decisions
  • presenting reasoned explanations, understanding implications and communicating them logically and clearly
  • working and communicating in English
  • cultural aspects

At Royal Institute, learners are encouraged to take ‘staged’ assessment – Cambridge International AS Level at the end of one examination session and the final Cambridge International A-Levels in a subsequent session. The benefit of staged assessment – taking Cambridge International AS Level examination halfway through the International A-Level course – is that it provides valuable feedback on setting learning goals for the second half of the course.

Cambridge International AS and A-Levels are internationally benchmarked qualifications providing excellent preparation for university education. They are a part of Cambridge Advanced Stage. These qualifications are widely recognized and valued by universities and employers alike.
