A wonderful blend of national and international elements, Royal Institute International School, Maharagama branch was established on the 1st of September 2005. At its inception, the school was headed by Ms. Iranthi Gunawardhane as the Principal with five teachers on the staff. At the outset, there were 45 students altogether at Lower Nursery, Upper Nursery and grade 1.
Presently, the learners have the option to choose either the national curriculum or the Cambridge curriculum as their program of study and be prepared for National GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations or Cambridge Ordinary Level examination. Under the guidance of Ms. Samila Jayaratne, the Principal, the outstandingly committed academic staff sees that the school thrives constantly.
I feel honoured and privileged to be a part of Royal Institute International School, Maharagama branch, which celebrated her 15th anniversary this year. Over a decade has passed, and today she has grown up to more than 50 class rooms, providing education for more than a thousand students.
Behind every school is a guild of tireless, dedicated prefects who strive for perfection in everything they do. The guild of Maharagama changes each year to accommodate different visions of its leaders, but at its core lie honesty, integrity and loyalty, qualities that we are proud to pass down from one guild to the next. We are one big family of 44 leaders, connected by one strong, non-detachable, everlasting tie – our Alma Mater.
The Royal Institute recognizes alumni as its greatest ambassadors and takes special pride in the vital role they play in implementing and spreading the knowledge they acquired during their studies. Through various events and activities, we hope to encourage alumni to keep in touch with each other and take pride in their alma mater.
