The Power of Nursery Education at Royal Institute International School: Nurturing Young Minds and Enriching Adult Learners

Nursery education is the foundation upon which a lifelong love for learning is built. In nursery settings, young learners are introduced to an environment that fosters curiosity, exploration, and the joy of learning. These formative years provide the foundation for future academic success and lay the groundwork for lifelong learning. It is an indispensable pillar of our society which dedicates its core values to fostering knowledge, skills, and character development for both young students and adult learners. Let us discover how Royal Institute International School provides a transitive stepping stone to youthful minds as they flourish in the world beyond school.

First and foremost, as a Cambridge Assessment International School, RI prepares their budding learners by following the Cambridge Curriculum from age three onwards infused with a variety of idiosyncratic teaching methods inclusive of Association Montessori International (AMI). Their mission is to facilitate the innate growth and progression of individuals from infancy to adulthood. By empowering children to become catalysts for positive change in society, it aims to contribute to the creation of a balanced and peaceful global community.

Early Childhood Development

It is a fact well-known that children need space to grow and the foundation for children’s cognitive, physical, and emotional development. This is methodically laid by the welcoming environment RI offers when it comes to exploration, investigation, and experimentation. Children’s language skills, creativity, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence are all enhanced through a plethora of sensory and visual based activities. It is also influential to highlight how Royal Institute advocates for a well-known concept referred to as ‘Experiential Learning; Learning by Doing’ – establishing the groundwork for future academic achievement through age-appropriate activities, play-based learning, and social interactions.

Socialization and Communication Skills

Early peer interaction and the development of critical social and communication skills are opportunities provided by the Nursery Section of RI for young children. Children get the ability to share, take turns, collaborate, and respect the ideas of others. They start to comprehend and communicate their feelings, grow in empathy, and form relationships.  Developing the ability to negotiate social dynamics through these early social encounters prepares them for future educational and social contexts. Furthermore, the diversity that RI progressively cultivates enables students of all races to partake in every event hosted inclusive of Sinhala and Tamil New Year, Diwali, Christmas, Iftar and many more.

Academic Readiness

RI prepares our little ones for the formal education system by instilling a love for learning and nurturing their cognitive abilities. Through activities and structured learning experiences, nursery education introduces children to pre-literacy and numeracy skills, basic concepts, and problem-solving techniques. This early exposure stimulates curiosity, critical thinking, and a readiness to embrace further academic challenges, ensuring a smooth transition to primary education at Royal Institute.

Parental Engagement and Support

In recognition of the crucial role parents play in their child’s educational development, RI promotes active parental engagement and encourages a solid unity between parents and teachers, generating a cooperative setting that supports youngsters’ growth. To provide a seamless transition between the nursery and home environments, parents and teachers exchange guidance on early children development, learning methodologies, and ways to prolong the learning experience at school as well as at home.

In a nutshell, nursery education at RI moulds the lives of young students with utmost significance.  Its effects aim to transcend beyond the early years, cultivating a strong foundation for intellectual, interpersonal, and emotional growth.
